Some old white dude at my dad’s office in Atlanta said something about how “the conservatives are going to have to start a revolution.”

To which my (Puerto Rican, gay, super smart and awesome) dad replied…

"You are just an old white man that is scared because we are taking your country away. Deal with it."

I love my dad.

From that time we went into the woods and dressed up like witches (ie wore black and put a bunch of shit on our heads). Can’t get over how lovely everyone looks in these photos by Judy!

hey there! i saw your celosia cosplay + your group floating around- they look great!! i was wondering, if you didn't mind me asking, how did you guys go about making your shoes? (they look so good!!) my friend and i are also cosplaying bryony and celosia and we're a little stuck on our boots. we've been looking at bootcover tutorials and the like, but since yours look so polished i thought i'd try asking! thanks so much~ ;3

answered:

Hello! Thanks, I’m glad you like our costumes! Also, I’m glad you like the shoes! They were actually my first pair of boot covers so it’s nice to know the work paid off. As for making them, here’s a general idea of what we did!

First off, after buying some seriously ugly wedge boots at Rainbow, we (dreamlandtea and I) followed this seriously excellent boot cover tutorial by crownofbirds to make the basic pattern for the boots. http://crashcult.blogspot.com/2010/12/costuming-bootcover-tutorial.html The white trim at top and the main red part of the boots were patterned out using this method.

The red trim at the bottom is a 1 inch thick strip of the same red spandex doubled over and glued on. The piece on the back heel is worbla that was molded to the shoe and then covered in fabric. Black detailing was drawn on. We also used worbla to make the shoes a little taller.

That’s probably not the best explanation so I took a couple of reference photos. I hope this helps! Good luck!

I also can’t remember how the Bryony boots were made since I didn’t have to make those, but the tutorial I linked to should point you in the right direction!

Hi, I was planning on cosplaying as Celosia next year at AB and I was wondering how you made your eyepiece or if you bought it?

answered:

Hello! It’s mostly bought and a little made. I got lucky since cyclops glasses can be easily bought for not a lot of money. I painted the glasses silver, and then cut out some purple plastic (from a cheap photo filter) to layer over the existing lens. The effect ended up working really well, and it was super easy!

This is the exact pair of glasses (I think I got the yellow/fire pair)

This is the type of filter I bought to make the lenses purple (not sure about color since I bought it in person at Adorama)

It’s also worth pointing out that I tried to use EL tape for these, and it just didn’t work for me. Wasn’t bright enough and couldn’t make it work. Probably just my fault for not knowing what I was doing, but the filter worked way better for me.

Hope this helps!

F is for Meloetta! It took me way too long to figure out what to do for this letter! And since it took so long, I’ve included a little recap of the Pokemon letters you’ve probably forgotten about until now.

Another costume from my weekend in the woods with some of my very best pals. This time it’s Mei/Rosa from Pokemon Black and White 2! Had so much fun running around through the tall grass looking for Pokemon ♥ I’m SO glad I finally got to wear this with Cristina’s Hilda, isn’t she perfect? We both made our own costumes/did wig stylings

Rosa/Mei - [x] StarDustShadow (me!)
Hilda/Toko - [x] OhCristina

Photos taken by Nicole Ciaramella - check out her work, she is a supremely talented photographer AND cosplayer AND PERSON. Every time she uploads a photoshoot I faint because of how DREAMY it is

There are no words for how much I love these. Getting to wear these costumes together was a ~*~dream~*~

My poor tumblr has been pretty neglected lately. I went to Japan a couple of weeks ago to visit a close friend, and now work is insanely busy! So here is a picture of some amazing socks I bought while I was away!
